Silos Córdoba participated in the ‘Technical Seminar on Business Opportunities in Kazakhstan’, organized by Extenda-Trade Promotion Agency of Andalusia, to evaluate market opportunities for growth in that country.
The CEO of Extenda, Vanessa Bernad, opened the Seminar with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Spain, Konstantin Zhigalov, highlighting the importance of Kazakhstan, the ninth largest country in the world and the largest economy in Central Asian. Moreover, the country is experiencing a process of technological and economic diversification “in which collaboration with foreign companies plays an important role”.
Kazakhstan’s economy has grown sharply, with GDP growth of 4.1% in 2018, according to the Central Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This growth, together with the increase in the average income of its population, gives rise to a market with great business opportunities in the industrial and consumer goods, agri-food, energy services or construction sector.
63 Andalusian companies from different sectors participated in the seminar, including Silos Córdoba:
“We have been exporting since 1992, but to Kazakhstan, since 2008. It is a huge country, the 9th largest in the world, and with an impressive harvest. It’s not amongst the first 4 in the world, but since their independence from Russia they had a deficit in terms of maintaining the flow of food and the government began to invest in our sector, ie, in storage systems. That’s why we are very interested in that country. We continue to receive projects from there since 2008. It is a very interesting market for companies, not only in the grain storage sector, but also in the harvest or the post-harvest sector.” Pablo Férnández, Global Sales Director at Silos Córdoba.
The bilateral trade between Andalusia and Kazakhstan has advanced significantly in the last decade, going from 8 to 210 million in 2018.
